Marco D’ Ambrosio

Marco D’ Ambrosio

MARCO is a composer, music producer, trumpet player and all-around noise wrangler. A native of Florence, Italy, his musical baptism began at the street festivals where his father would take him to watch the colorful bands march by. This led him to take up the trumpet as his primary instrument. Marco was soon after captivated by the power of film music, particularly the classic collaborations of Fellini and Nino Rota, the scores of Ennio Morricone and Bernard Herrman, and the pivotal soundtrack to Blade Runner. This quickly led him to composition, with a special interest in combining the textures of electronic and acoustic instruments. He has scored numerous award winning films, documentaries and live theatre projects including the anime hits Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventures, the Emmy winning Blink, the PBS documentary Double Dare, and the recently released film The Rape of Europa. In addition to scoring
Haiku Tunnel (Sundance 2001), Marco has collaborated with Josh Kornbluth on Red Diaper Baby for the Sundance Channel and Love and Taxes and Citizen Josh for the stage. In 2005, Marco was one of six accomplished composers awarded a prestigious film scoring fellowship from the Sundance Institute.
His latest projects include The Last Stan, a feature comedy starring Gary Cole and Jennifer Coolidge, and Paper or Plastic, a feature documentary about The National Grocery Bagging Competition.
You can also hear Marco's work in the iconic THX trailers at a theatre near you.
